Golf Rules

Longue Vue Club Course Rules

All players should familiarize themselves with and observe the rules and etiquette of golf at all times. USGA rules are in effect, except when modified by local rules found on the LVC scorecard and/or posted on the board at the first tee.

Golf Attire

  • Golf attire should be neat, tailored, and consistent with the standards of the club.
  • On the golf course and practice areas: Golf shirts with sleeves, long and short sleeve turtleneck and mock turtleneck shirts, golf slacks, Bermuda-type golf-length shorts not more than 4 inches above knees, and sweaters are acceptable. Women's golf skirts should not be more that 4 inches above the knee and shorts not more than 6 inches above the knee. Halters, tube tops, strapless tops, short-shorts, jogging shorts, denim jeans, dungarees, and cargo pants are unacceptable.
  • Shirttails must be tucked in everywhere, with the exception of casual shirts which by their design are intended to be worn without being tucked into the pants or skirt.
  • All members and their guests are required to wear soft spikes on the golf course as well as in the practice areas. No metal spikes are permitted.
  • No bare feet or sandal type footwear is permitted on the golf practice areas or golf course.
  • Changing of shoes by members or guests in the parking lots is prohibited.

Guest Play

  • Members and guests must register at the Pro Shop before play.
  • All play starts from the first tee. Only the Golf Professional may grant permission to start on a hole other than the first tee.
  • Members must register guests at the Pro Shop and inform their guests of our desired pace of play, cell phone use regulations, dress code, and required use of locker rooms to change clothes and shoes.
  • Guests are allowed full access to the range and practice facilities on the day that they are invited to play.

Pace of Play

  • The maximum playing time is 4 hours.
  • Invite faster players to play through when there is at least one complete hole open ahead. Players searching for a ball should signal the players in the group behind them to play through as soon as it becomes apparent that the ball will not be easily be found.
  • On hole #12: Players on the tee and ready to play through to an open green have priority; players taking refreshments at the 12th tee should yield to the group ready to play through.
  • If a player believes his ball may be lost outside a water hazard or is out of bounds, to save time, he should play a provisional ball.

Care of the Course

  • Repair all divot holes (either with replacement of the divot, if possible, or with sand/seed mixture from a golf cart, if riding). Repair all ball marks on greens' surfaces.
  • Comply with all cart-directional signage (including signs and posts) regarding movement of golf carts, particularly within 30+-yards of all greens complexes.
  • On par-3 holes with cart paths, golf carts should remain on those paths at all times.
  • Protect the beauty of the golf course

Caddie & Carry Bag Rule

The opportunity to walk with a caddie is an outstanding way to enjoy any elite golf course. We encourage members and guests to walk our course, and we work hard to provide trained caddies for our members to enjoy this privilege.

Cell Phone Usage

Out of respect for fellow competitors and the spirit of the game, the Golf Committee asks that you turn your phone on silent while on the course. Discreet use of cell phones in the locker room areas and 12th tee shop is acceptable, as well as the discreet use of cell phones for texting and web browsing.
